Choosing The Best Fishing Rod For The Job The most important thing about fishing is the rod. You have to have the right fishing rod for the job or your chances of actually catching anything can be ruined completely. Think of the rod as your tool because in essence that is exactly what it is. This is the means by which you are going to catch yourself some dinner
One of the things that many people fail to consider is where they will be doing the majority of their fishing. For example, if you have a fishing hole that you like to go to then you will want to take a look at the surrounding area. Are there a lot of overhanging trees or bushes that your rod or line could get caught in? If so then you need a shorter fishing rod. Make sense? Take a good look around and see if you need to factor in any of these types of things. The vast majority of fishing rods are made out of fiberglass and graphite though it is still possible to find some good ones made out of bamboo. You need longer and thicker ones if you are looking to catch the big guys, but for the average game fish then a shorter and thinner rod will work just fine. When the day comes to pick our your fishing rod make sure it is one you can actually see yourself using, one that is comfortable to hold. If you are unsure then ask the people who work at the store, they should be able to steer you in the right direction. Last update : 13-12-2007 18:28
