52 card is an interesting game. Objective: The object of the game of 52 card pick up is fairly straight forward and simple. For the version that most are familiar with you need to pick up all of the 52 cards spread across the table and/or floor.
Game Layout: You can either use a table or the floor, the latter being used more often for the place of this game. As cards will be flying, it tends to be harder using a table as the only game area. Game Description: The rules for all versions are almost the same, someone throws the cards in the air, and you wait until all are on the table or floor then go to town. The rules for different versions are shown below. Rules: There are 52 total cards to a deck. As a joke, many children learn about this game the fools version way. In the first and main version that many know about one player asks another if they know the game. When the second player answers no, the first player then proceeds to throw all the cards in the air, and let them land, then telling the second player to pick up all 52 cards. There are many variations of the game. The simple and serious version of this game for more than two players is to have the first player again throw all the cards in the air, and as soon as they hit the ground all players (there is no limit to players allowed for this version) are to grab as many cards as possible. The game ends when all cards are picked up, and the person with the most card wins (you do not count cards that are damaged in the pick up; those are discarded towards the final count result). For Chiefs’ & Indians the only difference is that the Chief is the one throwing the cards down, while the Indian is the one that picks them up. Cattle Rancher for this variation the deck is known as the herd of cattle, he or she asks the player if they want to play Cattle Rancher, when player 2 states yes, player 1 takes the deck of cards (the herd) and throws everyone into the air, once on the floor player 1 yells Round ‘em up! Fire & Water along with Fire & Smoke both consist of the basic rule, one player shows the other player the bottom of the deck (last card) and that person states either Water/Smoke if the card is black or Fire if it is red, once this is stated, the person holding the deck throws it at the person calling the card out, then attempts to throw the deck back at the first player. Strategy, Skills and Tactics In variations of this game for multiple players, there is only one thing needed to remember, speed is the most important thing! Otherwise, it’s best to be the one holding the cards to start with. Last update : 13-12-2007 18:49
