How to Play Cheat Objective The object of the game is to be the first player to successfully get rid of all their cards.
Game Layout The game of Cheat is played with a standard 52 card deck of poker playing cards. Game Description The most common name for this game a word best left to just it's abbreviation "B.S.". The other common names are ButterScotch, I Doubt It, Bull, Peanut Butter, Bullcrap, Blagger, Cheat, Schmeat, Horsecrap, Bacon-Stripping, O No You Didn't!, or by making up another name from the BS acronym. For this "How to" we will use the name Cheat. Cheat is a game for 3 or more players. The dealer deals the cards in a clockwise direction starting with the player to his left. He deals out all the cards in the deck as long as there are enough cards to deal to everyone in the game. Leftover cards (too few to make another round) are placed face down to begin the discard pile. Play usually begins with the person who is holding the 2 of clubs (or any card that is agreed on prior to the game). Players take turns (going clockwise from the dealer's left) playing the cards they have of a certain rank. Each player must play one rank higher than the player before him. (twos, then threes, then fours, etc). The player announces how many cards they are playing and the rank, then they lay that many cards face down onto the discard pile. The player must take his turn whether he has those cards or not. Before the next player takes a turn, the other players all have the chance to call out "Cheat" and challenge that the cards laid down are actually what they said they were. If the player was "Cheating", they have to pick up the all the cards in the discard pile. If the challenger was wrong, and the player played the cards they stated, the challenger must take the discard pile. Rules 1. The player on the dealer's immediate left is the first to play. 2. Play continues clockwise with each player laying down cards that are supposedly of the next rank. 3. Any player may call "Cheat" if they believe the last player's cards were something other than the rank that was in play. 4. If the player cheated, they must add the entire discard pile to their hand. If the player did not cheat, the challenger must add the discard pile to their hand. 5. Game continues until one player successfully discards all the cards in his hand. Strategy, Skills and Tactics The strategy to Cheat is fairly simple. By thinking ahead and counting what rank of cards you will be needing for your next few turns, you can better decide when you will need to cheat and when you actually make legitimate plays and minimize your chances of being called for cheating. The less you have to cheat, the better your chances to win. Last update : 13-12-2007 18:48
