Cricket is a wonderful game. You can play Cricket in online in www.coolgameslive.com->Games->Sports or click here . Objective The objective of the teams is to outscore each other. This is achieved by scoring more runs than the other team or dismissing 10 batsmen of the opponent’s team depending on whether the team bats first or second. The team that scores more runs wins the match.
Field Layout Cricket is played on an elliptical grass field 90-150 meters across, with a 22 yard long and 10 feet wide strip at the center called the Cricket Pitch. The field is divided into close field, infield and outfield. The close field covers a 15 yards radius and the infield covers 30 yards radius from the center of the stumps on either sides of the pitch. The outfield constitutes the area beyond the arc of the infield. Game Description Cricket is played between two teams with eleven players each. Two batsmen, striker and non-striker, open the batting. The bowler throws the ball towards the striker who hits the ball away from the fielders and runs to exchange positions with the non-striker. One completed exchange of position results in one run. The batsman gets four runs for hitting the ball beyond the boundary on a bounce and six runs if the ball doesn’t bounce. The bowler gets six legitimate deliveries before another bowler replaces him. The six deliveries constitute an over. In One day internationals, each team gets to play 50 overs. Rules The two umpires on the field and a third umpire watching the replays adjudicate the match. A batsman is adjudged out if: He dislodges the bails with the bat or his body –Hit wicket. The ball dislodges the bails-Bowled out A fielder catches the ball before it touches the ground-Caught out. The ball hits the batsman’s legs and is in line of the wickets- Leg Before wicket. The wicket keeper dislodges the bails when the batsman is outside the crease-Stumped. If the bails are dislodged by a fielder before the batsman reaches the crease-Runout. Every illegitimate delivery declared ‘wide’ or ‘no’ ball earns the batting team a run and needs to be repeated. The bowler is allowed just one bouncer per over. Any more bouncers are declared ‘No Balls.’ The batsman gets a free-hit delivery where he can only be runout after a ‘No ball’ due to overstepping. The fielding side shouldn’t tamper with the ball. Players are expected to avoid damaging the pitch. Strategy, Skills and Tactics The fielding side sets an aggressive field to intimidate the batsman and refrain him from scoring. Yorkers are the best balls to restrict scoring. When defending a small score, the fielding team sets a restrictive field. Batsmen attack the bowlers to rattle their line and length. In day and night matches, teams choose to field first as it’s hard to grip and field during night due to dew. The game changes with every over and the teams that adapt quicker win the game.
