Football is a sports games. You can play Football online in www.coolgameslive.com->Games->Sports or click here .

Objective

The objective of football is to score points by scoring touchdowns, field goals, or safeties.

Field Layout

Football is played on a 120x53 yard field. The first 10 yards of each side of the field are marked off as end zones, and the rest of the field is marked off every 10 yards.

Game Description

Football is a physical contact sport in which two teams of eleven players attempt to score points by accomplishing different tasks on either offense of defense. The offense’s main goal is to score a touchdown for 6 points or make a field goal for 3 points. The defense tries to prevent the offense from getting a touchdown, and tries to get possession of the ball. Special teams are in charge of kick-offs and punts, and returning kick-offs and punts.

Offense

Every football offense includes an offensive line of five players. The main goal of the offensive line is to prevent defensive players from tackling the quarterback and/or making gaps for other players to run for more yards. The center is in the middle of the offensive line and hikes the ball to the quarterback. There are two guards on the outside of the center and two tackles on outside of the guards. Tight ends can be on the outside of tackles, and can block and/or catch a pass.

The quarterback is responsible to make sure the ball gets to the player it is supposed to get to and that a play is run correctly. Wide receivers line up farther to the side of the offensive line and run specified routes for the quarterback to be able to pass the ball to them. Passing is sometimes an excellent way of gaining a large amount of yards, but runs the risk of being intercepted by the defense. The running back is positioned behind the offensive line, and is usually used for running plays.

Defense

Defensive ends are positioned on the outside of the offensive line. They attempt to prevent passers and/or stop offensive runs. Defensive tackles are in the center of the offensive line, and prevent running plays by filling gaps made by the offensive line. Linebackers stand behind the tackles and ends, they try to prevent a run play, or prevent a pass play. Cornerbacks are usually to the far sides of the defensive line and prevent passing plays. and far back. Safeties are in the back of the defensive line and prevent deep passing plays.

Rules

The offense is required to get the ball passed a 10 yard distance after four plays. If they do not succeed in getting the ball passed, the possession is turned over to the other team. In most cases on 4th down, special teams are called in and a field goal or punt is attempted.

Strategy

Depending on the play, different strategies for football come into effect. Passing plays require all of the receivers to run “routes”, which are pecified paths. If you run the same play every time, the defense will catch on. Many teams use a different set of plays each football game. Opposing teams look at video tapes of past plays and review it to see what that team is known to do, and develop their own plays to counteract the other teams.
