How to Play Checkers

Objective

The objective is to capture all the opponents pieces

Board Layout

The Board is diveded to eight by eight squares of alternative colors of black and white. The Board may be of 10 x 10 cells as well. There are 24 pieces and pieces are always placed in the Black Squares and they move diagonally

Game description

The Game is started with all the 24 pieces placed, 12 on each side. The center 2 rows are empty. The further most rows are called the King Rows. The players start moving one piece at a time towards the Kings Row. They may move either in the capturing moves or non-capturing moves. The pieces may be moved in one direction or zigzag. While moving if there is an opponents piece and and an empty space diagonally behind the opponents piece, then you can make a jump and remove/capture the opponents piece, you could jump as many as you can until there are no other captures.

Rules

1.The Peices are in a normal state or Crowned state, either case they will be able to move diagonally only.

2.Legal moves possible are capturing move and non-capturing move.

2.1 The player may move his piece one step forward diagonally in the non-capturing move

2.2 The player may move his piece one step over the opponents piece in capturing move. If the Player is able to capture one more piece after the first capture, he may do so, as long as he is not able to capture further.

3. When the piece reaches the opponents side it is said to be in the Crowned State.

4. In the Crowned State the piece can move forward and backward diagonally.

Strategy, Skills and Tactics

The Strategy to win the game will be two for one move. That is if you lose one piece you should be able to capture two of the opponents pieces. Another strategy will be to position inbetween to pieces of the opponents coins so that either one could be capture, in such cases the opponent will not be able to save atleast one piece. Towards the end of the game, it is important to pin the opponent, by attacking from all sides.
