How to play Monopoly Monopoly is a nice trade game. Objective To be the player with the most money.
Board Layout The board has eleven squares along each edge. One corner square is GO! square, where players start off and get paid. Diagonally opposite is the jail (or just visiting) square. Inside the board are two piles of cards; community chest and chance cards that are taken if you land on the right playing square, and hold either penalty or reward. There is a set of title deeds to properties that are named on the playing squares, and a tray of money. There are eight playing pieces; wheelbarrow, dog, car, thimble, boat, iron, hat, shoe. This is a game for 2-8 players. Game Description Players roll the dice and the highest goes first. Turns are taken in a clockwise manner. Each turn, you move your piece by the number on the dice. After your first circuit of the board you receive $200 when you again pass GO!. Landing on a property owned by another means you pay them rent at the amount stated on the title deed. If the property isn't owned, you may buy it. If you don't, the bank auctions it off to the highest bidder. Once you own a complete color set, you may start developing houses on it by buying them from the bank. Each house increases the rent an opponent has to pay, and when you have four houses you can erect a hotel, raising the property to its maximum rent value. You may also buy utilities and train stations, and the rent on them is different depending how many of the set you own. Game play continues until either all but one player is bankrupt, or a pre-determined amount of time has expired. Players then count up their cash on hand and the value of the properties and development they own. The winner is the player with most. Rules Rolling two sixes entitles the player to a second turn. However if two sixes are rolled three times the player is sent to jail. You may also be sent to jail by a chance or community chest card, or by landing on the “Go to jail!” square. There are three ways to get out of jail; rolling a pair on the dice, paying a set fee, or using a 'get out of jail free' card from community chest. You have three chances to roll a pair, and each time you fail you must pass your turn. If you fail to throw a pair you have to pay the fee. Strategy, Skills and Tactics Buying properties as fast as possible increases the chance of you having someone pay you rent, and reduces your chance of having to pay them rent. Landing on a property that is available, but that you don't want because someone else owns all the other properties in the set, can still help because you'll block your opponent from completing his set, and hence stop him developing properties.
